The King’s Concert, performed in honour of the inauguration of King Willem-Alexander as King of the Netherlands by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (RCO), conducted by Ivan, was without doubt one of the highlights of 2013. The concert made worldwide headlines and generated a whole host of interest and admiration. His collaboration with DJ Armin worked incredibly well and, at the King’s request, they created a perfect fusion between the worlds of classical music and Trance.

Last season, Ivan also conducted the Dutch Student Orchestra. His 10 concerts in all of the great concert halls in the Netherlands received high praise from the public and press alike.

The 2012-2013 season was rounded off with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s tour to South America where Ivan assisted maestro, Mariss Jansons. Click here to see a clip of a rehearsal at the ‘Teatro Municipal’ in Rio de Janeiro.

From the 2013-2014, Ivan will also be working at the prestigious LUCA school of Arts in Leuven (Belgium) where he was recently appointed Professor of Orchestral Conducting and conductor of the Symphony Orchestra.

However, there are still more exciting projects lined up this season on stage or in the orchestra pit.

For instance, Ivan has again been invited to be guest conductor at Opera Zuid in autumn 2013. Following his successful opera conducting debut in 2012, Ivan was asked back to lead the production this year. Starting mid-November, he will be conducting 13 performances of Bizet’s Carmen.

Ivan will also be returning to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for a triple visit which will see him conducting several family concerts in a programme that will include Aaron Copland’s ‘Billy the Kid’.
